Big changes are coming for Amazon sellers. Starting January 1, 2026, Amazon’s FBA fulfillment centers will no longer offer item-level prep services like labeling, poly bagging, or bundling. If your items do not arrive prepped, they may be rejected or even disposed of with no reimbursement.
This shift is forcing sellers to take full responsibility for their prep requirements. As a reliable logistics partner, Lansil Global can make that transition smooth by offering expert labeling, inspection, and fulfillment services at U.S. warehouses—so you avoid delays and penalties.
Timeline: What You Must Know
Now through December 31, 2025
This window is your final chance to use Amazon’s prep services at current pricing. You can still create shipments and select Amazon as your prep provider. Use this period to test new workflows, revise SOPs, or transition prep to external partners like Lansil Global.
Starting January 1, 2026
Amazon will require all incoming shipments to FBA to be fully prepped and labeled before arrival. Shipments created before January 1, 2026 will be processed, even if they arrive later. However, items arriving after this date that lack proper prep might be refused, returned, or destroyed—without reimbursement.
Why Is Amazon Making This Change?
Amazon’s choice reflects several operational and strategic reasons:
- Efficiency at scale: Manual prep slows down fulfillment, especially during busy seasons
- Automation alignment: Robotic fulfillment centers cannot easily accommodate manual tasks like labeling and bundling
- Sellers’ capabilities: Many established brands already manage their own prep, making FBA prep redundant
- Cost management: Removing labor-heavy services helps Amazon control expenses and support scalability
What It Means for Your Brand
This change affects your entire supply chain:
- Increased operational load: Prep responsibilities like labeling, bundling, and compliance now fall on you
- High risk of rejection: Improperly prepped shipments may be denied entry, delaying inventory or costing you money
- Shift to external services: Most brands will need a dependable third-party prep solution to maintain compliance and margin
